"What is Ockamo All About?"
Introduction

Ockamo is about helping website owners see what is confusing and interesting to website visitors so that they can improve conversions.

visitor mouse behaviour over time

Let's elaborate with an example...

Little Ralphie's 10th birthday was coming up and his mom wanted to buy a Red Ryder BB gun for him. She headed to her favorite search engine and typed "BB gun". She found a website that exclusively sells dangerous toys for kids and she is overjoyed. She struggles at first with the lingo on the site but eventually finds "projectile devices" and figures BB guns must be in there. What she finds is an overload of choices from paintball guns to throwing stars. Immediately she scoured the page for a way to sort the items but couldn't find a way to do it. Since there weren't descriptions for the pictures she clicked on a few small images that looked like BB guns to see the details - each opening a new page. She still couldn't find what she was looking for after 5 tries, felt really frustrated and left the site unhappy.  :-(

Have you ever visited a website and gotten confused by the site's navigation and layout, only to leave? Traditional analytics can't tell you what your visitors are really interested in on the page, but Ockamo can.

"Who Would Find This Interesting?"
User Types

  • Adventurous Startup Creators
. . . who are desperate to learn what parts of your business your visitors are interested in.
  • Meticulous Marketers
. . . who crave to know visitors behaviour to classify them into market segments.
  • Creative UX Designers
. . . who need to measure and compare visitor engagement to improve conversion rates.
  • Wasteless Developers
. . . who want to learn about feature usage to decide what iteration to do next.

We know your pain - our team consists of all of the above - and we often ask ourselves why there are no analytic tools on the market that simplify learning about visitors - and so we built our own.

"How Do You Do That?"
Data and API

We capture fine-grained detail about visitors browsing behaviour, including:

  • Mouse movements / Clicks
  • Scroll behaviour (Keyboard / Mouse)
  • Viewport information
  • Elements rendered on visitor's browser
We build our information architecture from these detailed high resolution data through raw data browsing trails (e.g. mouse movements, scroll, etc) to summarise them into core information and statistics which can be aggregated. We are all about making normally hidden behavior both visible and understandable - we have unique models which allows us to summarise interest, behaviour, and engagement of visitors. We also provide a customized API to allow easy access to the data.

Comparison with Other Analytics

We love a lot of existing analytic solutions in the market which we have summarised them into following categories:

Detail level Accuracy Performance impact Usefulness for large number of visitors
Free, low level detail analytics Page visits only Based on accurate page visits Low Good aggregate data interface
Heatmap based analytics Mouse behaviour + viewport, non-time tracked info Can be misleading page often rendered differently Low Beautiful interface
Detail video replay capturing analytics Detail mouse tracking behaviour Accurate recording Capturing such amount of data require large bandwidth ...Browsing session videos must be viewed independently!
Ockamo Element level interaction data Accurate even if page is rendered differently Low to medium - configurable depends on your need We convert behaviours into analysable numbers
